Pert Near Sandstone: “Paradise Hop”

A sweet mixture of Americana and jig-folk for you lads and lassies.

This album combines wild-eyed, lightning fast tracks along with lyrics that show the band’s
trials and tribulations during life on the road. The album is set up so that the listener isn’t
constantly on a fast paced race through the lives of these artists; songs aren’t always fast
paced and usually are split with a few slower paced songs. The band is an arrangement
of banjos, guitars, violins, upright bass, and mandolins with the use of tap shoe dancing
on wooden boxes only for the pure effect of percussion (see track 8 and 14).

Paradise Hop will be the fourth album released by Pert Near Sandstone, and
although they haven’t been made a very popular face in the new-aged blue grass/folk
movement, they’ve been seen on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion back in
2008 and also wrote their own original cover of The Beatles’ “I am the Walrus,” which they
performed live on a radio station in their home state of Minnesota within this past year. This
band is a definite must for anyone interested in music that mixes American mountain folk with
Irish jigs.
