Junior Thomas Taylor pitched 8.1 innings as the Jayhawks defeated the Belmont Bruins 2-0 in the Music City Classic while Kansas opens up their season on a three-game win streak.
Taylor hurled an impressive five strikeouts giving up only three hits.
Freshman third baseman Justin Protacio went one for four at the plate batting in both Jayhawk runs — one in the sixth inning, one in the ninth.
Jordan Jakubov recorded the two out save.
Kansas takes the field next Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. against Lipscomb. Pitching for KU will be freshman right-hander Drew Morovick, he’ll be facing Josh Fonfara of the Bisons.
