You may have been to a First Fridays event in the Crossroads Arts District at KC – that monthly mini-festival when galleries in the District throw open their doors to the public. This month’s event includes a special performance: several musicians and artists from KU are presenting a concert at the AFW Gallery at 2015 Grand Boulevard, from 7-9 PM on June 1st. The program includes a variety of works for instruments and multimedia, including Morton Subotnick’s “Passages of the Beast” for clarinet and electronics, Matt Walsh’s “CLOUDedge” for dancer and interactive electronics, and Kip Haaheim’s “Mahakala: Protector of the Law” for Tibetan bowls and computer.
In promotion of this special event, KJHK is sharing a preview on Sunday, May 27th at 3 PM. Tune in for some previews of the music and interviews with participating musicians.
Come check out all the awesome art the area has to offer and stop by the AFW Gallery for any portion of the music, painting exhibitions by the Kansas City’s Plein Air Coterie, and food and drinks in the attached Mandoline Cafe!
