Big visitor list for KU Football
With the football season over, the Jayhawks look ahead to next fall
This week was by far the quietest week regarding recruiting news since this blog began, so I have a little football recruiting news for you this week and that’s it. Kansas has a list of players visiting the KU campus this week, despite the Jayhawks’ 2012 season ending last Saturday in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Kansas will host a mix of high school and junior college recruits this weekend and one of those recruits, who is somewhat new on the scene, is Juco defensive end Trevor Harris from ASA College in New York. Harris has recently picked up interest from the likes of Kansas, San Diego State, Boise State, Western Kentucky, Old Dominion, West Virginia and Central Michigan. Harris has really come on this season and is starting to become a “sleeper” prospect in many recruiting analysts’ eyes.
Another visitor this weekend will be Harris’ ASA teammate Desmond Hollin, who plays opposite Harris at the other defensive end spot. Hollin, like Harris, has also picked up a lot of recruiting buzz and interest around the nation this season, picking up an offer from the Florida State Seminoles recently. Besides the Seminoles and Jayhawks, Hollin has offers from Kentucky, Louisiana-Lafayette, Marshall and Purdue. Kansas and Charlie Weis would love to pick up a commitment from either of these talented defensive linemen this weekend. Wide receiver Ishmael Hyman from New Jersey, who has been talked about at length in this blog, will also visit Lawrence this weekend.
A very recent addition to the visitor list and a new name in Kansas football recruiting is 6’6”, 305 pound Juco offensive tackle Josiah St. John. St. John is one of the most highly regarded and highly recruited offensive line Juco prospects in the nation. He has 18 offers from such powerhouse programs as Oklahoma, Arkansas, Oklahoma State and West Virginia to name a few. St. John is also receiving interest from the #2 team in the nation, Alabama. Kansas, who has offered a spot to St. John, would love to make a great impression this weekend and firmly cement the Kansas name in the mind of Josiah St. John.
That’s it for the Recruiting Trail this weekend. Check back next week for the reaction from the visitors this weekend.
