Hickory Wind returns Monday

One of KJHK’s most popular shows returns to play the best folk and Americana music.

Hickory Wind is dedicated to classic country, alt-country, traditional folk, indie folk, Americana, bluegrass, and twangy rock n’ roll. I came to old country music through my dad, who always used to have Jimmie Rodgers playing in the background. You can expect to hear all of the classics on this show, but I will not neglect all of the great new music that has contributed to a new renaissance in Americana music. The future of roots music has never looked so bright, and I intend to introduce my audience to as much of my new favorites as I can.

Hickory Wind airs every Monday 8-10 p.m.

    Hey Vince,
This might sound a little strange, but I just wanted to say …

I was in town for a short time a few weeks ago, just before the new semester, and the station wasn’t entirely up and running yet. I love Lawrence and it’s always hard to leave; while I sped away I kept KJ on the car radio for as long as the wattage would permit. As I was losing reception, somewhere around KC, I realized that I was hearing your freeform show. I don’t know if you remember me from KJHK staff a few years ago, but I was very pleased and reassured to hear a familiar voice as I was losing contact again. Just felt like saying you were still doing fine work there.

And you know… when I came to the site just now and listened in (I was actually wondering if the game was on), it turned out to be you on the mic again. Cool.

    That’s all. Thanks.
