Farmer’s Ball Submissions Now Open

KJHK’s Battle of the Band competition is now looking for acts to win the $2,ooo grand prize!

Farmer’s Ball, KJHK’s annual competition that aims to give Lawrence and Kansas City metro area bands more exposure, is now accepting submissions for the 2013 contest. Bands have until 5:00 p.m. on March 1 to submit their songs at kjhk.org/farmersball. After March 1, the selection committee will narrow down the pool to 16 bands, which is then trimmed down to eight through online voting and input from the selection committee.┬áNames of the 16 selected will be announced on Monday, March 25, 2013.

Any area musical acts which have not previously placed first in the Farmer’s Ball competition are eligible, and the competition is open to all styles and genres. ┬áThe eight contestant acts will play in a rapid-fire preliminary round on Friday, April 20, with finals the following Friday, April 27.

First place winners will receive $2,000 and second place winners will get $1,000. Previous winners include Panda Circus, Hospital Ships, The Anniversary and The Capsules.

    Hospital Ships never actually played Farmer’s Ball, but we’re flattered to be mentioned in the company of those other bands!
