What happens when Tom Waits meets The Black Keys?
Coming from Western Australia, The Growl’s debut LP will send chills down your spine with their hard and aggressive sound. The opening track, ‘Eleven,’ comes pounding with guitar riffs that bring memories of any hard Tom Waits song and vocals that resemble Dan Auerbach. This trend continues throughout most of the album, excluding ‘Liarbird,’ which sounds like a much harder Black Keys. ‘Niywtlwoe’ is borderline noise rock that really gets you going until a dramatic, peaceful slow down with ‘More.’ Overall, this is a solid rock album for anyone who is looking for a hard, dark, and poetic sound.
