As Kansas prepares for its season opener against South Dakota, Kansas head coach Charlie Weis spent more time talking about some of the impressions he’s received on defense.
The biggest surprise on Weis’ depth chart was seeing junior college transfer linebacker Samson Faifili move ahead of sophomore Jake Love. Faifili, who is the cousin of former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o, came from American River College and is already looking to make a big impact with the Jayhawks as he gets his first start this Saturday.
Another notable facelift on the depth chart was moving Cassius Sendish from cornerback to safety. Sendish caught a lot of eyes during the spring and was praised by Weis for his versatility. This allowed Weis to shift Sendish from cornerback to safety, giving JaCorey Shepherd and Dexter McDonald receive more face time at the cornerback position.
