Now in its 20th year, KJHK’s Farmers’ Ball is a chance for bands from the Lawrence area  to revel in the glory of bragging rights, new fans and cash prizes. A staple in the Lawrence music scene for two decades, this annual battle of the bands is a mega showcase of local music talent. The event is being co-presented by KJHK 90.7 FM and Student Union Activities.

This year, KJHK and SUA will be blowing up Farmers’ Ball beyond recognition. THE WINNING BAND RECEIVES $2,000, SECOND PLACE WINS $1,000, and the runners-up receive great promotional prizes as well.

All eligible bands must submit their music online, at www.kjhk.org/farmersball, by March 2, 2014. In a band or know someone who is? Submit your music today! Go towww.kjhk.org/farmersball for all relevant rules, regulations and submission information.

KJHK and SUA student staff will listen to and review all submissions, and narrow down the field to 16 acts selected for a preliminary online voting round. Those 16 bands will be unveiled onMonday, March 24.

Online voting to narrow down the field to 8 semi-finalists will open at noon Monday, March 24 and close on Friday, April 4. The 8 semi-finalists for Round 1 of Farmers’ Ball will be announced on Sunday, April 6. Those bands will compete for audience votes at the live semi-finals show on Saturday, April 19 at the Bottleneck.

Based on audience voting during the semi-finals show, 4 bands will advance to the final Farmers’ Ball round on Saturday, April 26 at the Bottleneck. An audience vote during that show will determine the winner and runner-up of the 20th annual KJHK Farmers’ Ball.
