I recently caught up with local musician Nate Allen and subjected him to a rigorous set of pre-screening questions in preparation for a live-in-the-studio interview. Here are the results: Quinton: Let’s start with a standard question: Why are you doing this? Who or what inspired you to begin this arduous quest? Nate: This? When songs show up inside I am compelled to record and perform them. They are a fire that keeps burning. They also provide a source for journaling and processing life I believe curates health in me and ideally others. I write alot of songs hopefully I’ll do this as long as I can. The “King of Cool” will be on the silver screen rather soon. Don Cheedle is set to play Miles Davis and direct in the new biopic Miles Ahead. The film covers Miles’ transition back into music after a 5 year hiatus in 1975. This musical period included very psychedelic and experimental works, just take a listen to the albums “Dark Magus” or “The Complete On The Corner Sessions”. Cheedle has tried to get a Miles Davis film underway for many years, and we wish him the best with his new endeavor. Miles Ahead is said to hit theaters sometime in late 2014.
