ST. LOUIS — Despite a slow start, the Kansas Jayhawks were able to notch an 80-69 win over a gritty 15th seeded Eastern Kentucky Colonels. Jamari Traylor came up huge for the Jayhawks off the bench, having career highs in both scoring and rebounding with 17 points and 14 boards. It may have been sunny outside of the Sprint Center, but it was raining threes for Iowa State as the Cyclones defeated the Kansas Jayhawks 94-83 to advance to the Big 12 Championship final on Saturday. The Cyclones (25-7, 11-7) came out firing on all cylinders to start the game, as they hit 66.7 percent (8-12) of their shots from beyond the arc in the first half. Freshman sensation Andrew Wiggins continued his dominance in the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship quarterfinal game, putting up 30 points against rival Oklahoma State in a hard-fought overtime victory. KU beat OSU 77-70 on Thursday at the Sprint Center. The Jayhawks led for the duration of the game, however costly turnovers allowed the Cowboys to push the match to overtime. The Jayhawks outscored the Cowboys 10-3 in overtime and emerged victorious. Forwards Jamari Traylor and Tarik Black stepped up in the absence of Joel Embiid.
