ST. LOUIS — A valiant performance by senior Tarik Black was not enough for the 2nd seeded Kansas Jayhawks to avoid the upset by the 10th seeded Stanford Cardinal. Black finished off his Kansas basketball career with an 18 point, six rebound effort. Fouling out in the waning minutes of the game, this came as a huge loss to a young Jayhawk squad. Many of Black’s fouls came by way of the Cardinal players blowing by perimeter Kansas defenders and leaving him alone in the paint as a last line of defense. ST. LOUIS — Despite a slow start, the Kansas Jayhawks were able to notch an 80-69 win over a gritty 15th seeded Eastern Kentucky Colonels. Jamari Traylor came up huge for the Jayhawks off the bench, having career highs in both scoring and rebounding with 17 points and 14 boards. Conner Frankamp played 25 minutes for the Jayhawks, scoring a career high 10 points and dishing out four assists. “We actually played better with Conner in the game,” Kansas coach Bill Self said after the game. “But there was no set game plan.
