In 2013, pianist Yun-Chin Zhou was awarded seven concert prizes and was named a winner of the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. He also won First Prize in the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition. Before coming to the U.S. to study, he appeared with the China National Symphony Orchestra and won top prizes in the 2007 China International and the 2006 Gulangyu Piano Competitions in Xiamen and appeared as soloist with the China National Symphony Orchestra.
Comprised of 15 of jazz music’s leading soloists, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra is under the leadership of nine-time Grammy Award-winning trumpet player Wynton Marsalis. Marsalis has toured the world, sold nearly five million copies of his recordings, won a Pulitzer Prize for Music and serves as the cultural correspondent for CBS This Morning.
The Lied Center, the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics and the Lawrence Journal-World are presenting “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. The program will include a mix of traditional band repertoire and marches to instrumental solos.
