The pioneering string quartet ETHEL and Grammy Award-winning Native American flutist Robert Mirabal present Music of the Sun, a program inspired by the Native American sun mythology. Uniting the string quartet and Native American flutes (Tdoop – Pootse) and drums (Mooloo) with the spirited voices of local choir members, ETHEL and Mirabal create a cross-cultural contemporary music event.

Included in the program are Mirabal’s compositions; arrangements of ancient Native American music for strings, flutes, percussion and voices; selections from ETHEL’s original repertoire; and the works of contemporary composers such as Marcelo Zarvos, John Luther Adams and others.

Peters has won numerous accolades including three Tony Awards, a Golden Globe, two Grammy Awards, three Emmy nominations and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

She recently appeared in City Center’s Encores! production, A BED A CHAIR: A New York Love Affair, featuring the music of Stephen Sondheim and orchestrations by Wynton Marsalis. Other recent credits include a recurring role on the NBC-TV series Smash, and starring roles on Broadway in A Little Night Music and Follies.

 Stewart Copeland, rock star drummer and founding member of The Police turned  film composer and filmmaker. He will be joined by pianist Jon Kimura Parker, media personality, educator and veteran of the international concert stage. The performance will feature Copeland’s  compositions and standard classical repertoire, including Parker’s suite based on Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. Instrumentation includes piano, violin, double-bass and percussion, as well as the EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument).

Based on The Autobiography of William Allen White, the performance depicts the editor in his later years, at home, reading newspaper clippings and reminiscing with the audience. Wright has performed The Sage of Emporia throughout the U.S. since 1983.

 Theatrical stage show is based on the hit animated television series Wild Kratts. Martin and Chris Kratt step out live onstage in a  Wild Kratts story.

Starting off in their headquarters, the “Tortuga,” the Kratts receive a message about an animal in trouble. Always ready to help animals in need, they pull on their “Creature Power” vests and gloves and are off. The adventure doesn’t work as planned but they press on, encountering some facts about animals, presented via large-screen multimedia video footage, as they rescue their animal friend and return it to its natural home.
