Mike Andrews: Spilling a Rainbow

reviewed by jake waters Mike Andrews is best known for his work scoring movies like Donnie Darko and Bridesmaids. Andrews latest album, however, is of a different sort. Spilling a Rainbow is a unique concept album about finding rebirth in himself through the birth of his child which adds a touch of whimsy to the songs. These songs range from low key acoustic tracks with a folk flair to songs with tinges of psychedelia. The track that stood out the most was the closing song “Music for Cell Division.” This lovely instrumental piece really ties the album together and really makes the album feel as if every song was related. This album is highly recommended…
