McKinney to attend KU in spring

By Trevor Graff

Charlie Weis announced Thursday that junior college defensive end Ty McKinney won’t be attending the University of Kansas until the spring semester.

Weis discussed the matter with McKinney before deciding that any attempt to catch up academically in KU’s fall semester would be futile.

“Ty has three years to play two,” Weis said. “This means when he enrolls in January, he would then have two years of eligibility to be played in two years. Ty intends to take extra classes at a junior college in preparation for January. Per Ty’s request, I will not respond to questions on this matter moving forward.”

The Jayhawks play Rice Sat. at 2:3o in Memorial Stadium.
