of Montreal- Lousy With Sylviabriar

Barnes reminiscent of Bowie

The latest offering from Kevin Barnes is a complete 180 from his last album, Paralytic Stalks. For the first time since Aldhils Aboretum, of Montreal features a full band sound with a heavy emphasis on guitar. Most of the tracks have a twangy 70s rock feel to them which is really refreshing after the heavy emphasis on funk the last few albums had. The stand out track would have to be “Obsidian Currents” in which Kevin Barne’s voice almost sounds like David Bowie at times. Definitely give this record some love.
