KJHK Multimedia Staff Application

KJHK’s Multimedia Staff creates video, photo and other media content for KJHK and some of its partner organizations. Staff members also act as lab assistants in KJHK’s multimedia studios, training peers in the technical aspects of multimedia production.

Multimedia work for KJHK includes:

  • Weekly production of the station’s award‐winning in‐studio performance series, Live @ KJHK.
  • Promotional, recruitment and documentary videos about the station.
  • Assistance with news, arts, sports, music and other staff content.

In addition to producing videos for KJHK, the Multimedia Staff works with the KU Memorial Union’s office of Marketing, Media and Programs to produce editorial, promotional and creative content. Partner organizations include Student Union Activities, The Big Event, and the KU Memorial Unions.

Applications are now closed for students interested in joining the Multimedia Staff for Spring 2018. Staff members will be selected by an application and interview process. Selected staff members will receive a modest monthly stipend.

    All successful applicants will be required to attend a weekly KJHK Multimedia Staff meeting. Assuming best efforts on both your and KJHK's part, are you prepared to organize your schedule in order to attend KJHK meetings for the staff(s) you are selected for?
    All successful applicants will be available to complete three (3) weekly, regularly scheduled office hours in KJHK's production spaces at the Kansas Union. Office hours may be during the day or the evening, and will be scheduled based on staff member availability by KJHK's General Manager.
    All successful applicants will be available to complete at least five (5) hours a week of photo/video coverage or editing of events on the KU campus, or providing multimedia support for KJHK news and sports coverage. Editing hours will be scheduled in KJHK's production spaces at the Kansas Union.
    KJHK keeps photo, video and editing equipment in house. This equipment is for KJHK staff use, for assigned KJHK projects. All staff members must be responsible for the care of this equipment while on assignment. Do you agree to comply with these rules and care for KJHK equipment?
    To be a part of KJHK, no matter what staff you're on, you must know and abide by the rules and regulations KJHK sets forth. This is vital to the station's continued existence! Please review the KJHK Handbook, available at www.kjhk.org in the "About KJHK" section of the site. Violation of station rules may result in suspension or termination.
    All KJHK employees must respect the station by maintaining its cleanliness. This includes picking up trash, refiling music, and generally maintaining a neat and efficient work environment. Do you agree to keep KJHK a clean, professional environment every time you are at KJHK?
