Daniel Rossen is one of the heads and leads singers behind Grizzly Bear. The songs have a huge airy grandness to them, like with Grizzly Bear, like being channeled in to a radio station from some era past. I can’t help but imagine that this is what Gatsby would listen to, it’s just that grand. Theres also a country tinge and I feel some grit to his songs. This album’s goes back and forth for me. I feel like some songs seem to be upfront with their elements and/or the layers, but it’s a pretty good album. The drums thud, the guitar rambles here and there, slide guitar does its thing, the bass rolls, all while Daniel sings in his own.

Reviewed by: Cameron Lamontagne on April 15th, 2012

RIYL: Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes, the 1920’s, the Great Depression, Older Sounding Things

Recommended Tracks: Rocking: 2; Rambling: 3; Grand: 1; Slow: 4; Tops: 1,5,4,3,2

Label: Warp

Release Date: March 19th, 2012

[3230,181
735,780
post-12436","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-new-music-rotation","category-rock-rotation","tag-cameron-lamontagne","tag-daniel-rossen
["GET
