Unfortunately lightening wasn\u2019t the spark they were hoping for. Instead Kansas\u2019 weekend series opener was disrupted by a 98-minute rain delay.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kansas ended up falling to the Sooners 4-1 in Frank Duncan\u2019s first start since tossing a complete game victory in Austin, Texas last Friday.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12745\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12745\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Elgie_Zac_mug.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12745\" title=\"Baseball Mugs\" src=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Elgie_Zac_mug-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Elgie_Zac_mug-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Elgie_Zac_mug.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12745\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zac Elgie left in the 7th Inning with finger injury<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Duncan got off to a rocky start giving up two runs on two hits while issuing two walks in the top of first.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s been my Achilles\u2019 heel,\u201d Duncan said of giving up early runs, yet the freshman responded by retiring 12 of the next 13 batters he faced \u2014 with a rain delay breaking up the action.<\/p>\n<p>The Sooners wouldn\u2019t get another hit until the sixth inning when Duncan gave up three more hits and two more runs stretching the lead to 4-0.<\/p>\n<p>Kansas got off to a great start on their comeback in the seventh inning but it was foiled as quickly as it began. Zac Elgie came inches shy of clearing the left centerfield wall and settled with a triple, but upon sliding into the bag jammed his finger and left the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe think he\u2019s got a torn tendon in his finger,\u201d Kansas coach Ritch Price said. \u201cHe\u2019s at the doctor now being evaluated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Losing Elgie takes a .284 hitter out of the lineup, but more importantly puts one of the Jayhawk\u2019s captains out of commission for an indefinite period.<\/p>\n<p>The Jayhawks will try to regroup Saturday at 6:00 with game two in the weekend series.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Blake Schuster Down 2-0 at the top of the fourth inning to the Oklahoma Sooners, the Jayhawks offense was looking for a spark.
