{"id":18049,"date":"2012-10-28T11:43:21","date_gmt":"2012-10-28T16:43:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/?p=18049"},"modified":"2012-10-28T11:44:47","modified_gmt":"2012-10-28T16:44:47","slug":"featured-artist-ros-sereysothea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/2012\/10\/28\/featured-artist-ros-sereysothea\/","title":{"rendered":"Featured Artist: Ros Sereysothea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Vintage Postcards profiles a famous Cambodian singer<!--more--><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>By Paige Henderson<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Known as the\u00a0<em>Golden Voice of Cambodia,\u00a0<\/em>Ros Sereysothea was born in 1948 and captured Cambodia&#8217;s heart at a very young age. \u00a0Working with Khmer Rock &#8216;n Roll legends like Sinn Sissmouth, Sereysothea&#8217;s sweet and hauntingly charming vocals can&#8217;t help but demand a listener&#8217;s attention. \u00a0From the thick rocking of &#8220;Flowers in the Pond,&#8221; to the fun and catchy &#8220;Oh Snaeha!&#8221; it&#8217;s hard not to fall in love.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the beauty of this Cambodian jem, unfortunately, is a tragedy. \u00a0Sereysothea, alongside nearly all of her fellow musicians and artists in the Cambodian renaissance, was captured and presumably killed by the Khmer Rogue after their take over of kingdom.
