{"id":25692,"date":"2013-09-27T18:00:42","date_gmt":"2013-09-27T23:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/?p=25692"},"modified":"2013-09-29T22:04:57","modified_gmt":"2013-09-30T03:04:57","slug":"for-the-record-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/2013\/09\/27\/for-the-record-2\/","title":{"rendered":"For the Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Bosnian Rainbows Review<!--more--><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Hello again all!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kyle Stringer here &#8211; this time with an album review. \u00a0I recently purchased \u201cBosnian Rainbows&#8221; \u2013 Bosnian Rainbows from Love Garden (on vinyl of course) and I was pleasantly surprised.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For those of you who don\u2019t know, Bosnian Rainbows is the new project of Omar Rodr\u00edguez Lopez (ex Mars Volta and At The Drive-In). \u00a0The band also features Deantoni Parks, the most recent drummer from The Mars Volta, and Teri Gender Bender from Le Butcherettes.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I for one, was rather upset when I found out The Mars Volta were finished. \u00a0I went into denial and shut myself in a room for quite a while trying to decide if I could afford \u201cDe-Loused in the Comatorium\u201d on vinyl. \u00a0However, I decided to give the Bosnian Rainbows singles a listen, and I was glad I did. \u00a0Although they were no Mars Volta, this band and debut album definitely hold their own. \u00a0Throughout the entire record, there are plenty of crunchy, smooth, and delayed out guitar riffs, synths, groove oriented drum beats, and sloppy but lovable vocals. \u00a0The Mars Volta definitely had more dissonances, spacy sounds, harsh effects, and higher vocals than Omar\u2019s new band, but is easy to love if you don\u2019t compare the two. \u00a0The album definitely has its standouts, and has a couple duds as well.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The album is free to listen to on bandcamp <a href=\"http:\/\/bosnianrainbows.bandcamp.com\/\">here<\/a>.<a href=\"http:\/\/bosnianrainbows.bandcamp.com\/\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments or call in during \u201cFor The Record\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/br1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-25694\" alt=\"br\" src=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/br1-300x300.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/br1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/br1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/br1-125x125.jpg 125w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/br1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>Written by Kyle Stringer.
