{"id":27524,"date":"2013-12-06T12:00:54","date_gmt":"2013-12-06T18:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/?p=27524"},"modified":"2013-12-01T18:32:11","modified_gmt":"2013-12-02T00:32:11","slug":"for-the-record-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/2013\/12\/06\/for-the-record-4\/","title":{"rendered":"For the Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Narkalark EP Review<!--more--><\/em><\/p>\n<p>While this record may never be in a vinyl format, I think it is important that this music is heard .\u00a0 Besides, as their Facebook page says, Narkalark is \u201csynthesized music for the human world.\u201d\u00a0 What exactly does that mean?\u00a0 What does it mean to be human?\u00a0 Can robots feel love and pain?<\/p>\n<p>I believe Narkalark tries to answer all of these questions and more on his new and very first EP.<\/p>\n<p>Narkalark is a one-man-band, and wizard of keyboards and synthesizers.\u00a0 This EP is full of bleeps and bloops, thick textures, and Nintendo spasms, but from a grown up perspective.\u00a0 This EP has highs and lows, just like any human would.\u00a0 Highs from the best day you and imagine, and lows that make you wonder if robots really can feel pain\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Only one track features vocal work, and I think that\u2019s okay.\u00a0 Sometimes music alone can speak volumes and I believe that is exactly what Narkalark is doing with the instrumentals on this EP.\u00a0 The only track that does feature vocals is a cover of Hideaway featuring Larren Winn on vocals and originally by Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.<\/p>\n<p>The EP is definitely worth some listens\u2026 and downloads\u2026 and purchases, so go support the local music scene in Lawrence, KS and enjoy some danceable electronic music.<\/p>\n<p>November 29<sup>th<\/sup>, Narkalark had an album release show at the Bottleneck here in Lawerence. \u00a0Also, be on the look out for an \u201cIn Studio\u201d performance on KJHK.\u00a0 You can also go pick up the CD in The Love Garden, and check out some other great records while you\u2019re there.<\/p>\n<p>Check out Narkalark&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/narkalark.bandcamp.com\/album\/narkalark-ep\">Bandcamp<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Narkalark\">Facebook<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/narkalarkpromotion_full.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-27122 aligncenter\" alt=\"narkalarkpromotion_full\" src=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/narkalarkpromotion_full-300x272.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Written by Kyle Stringer.
