JoJo Takeovers at SXSW<\/em><\/p>\n

SXSW had a huge hip-hop turnout in Austin this year, The Fader Fort by Converse bringing out some hot contenders to perform. Among some of the greats were Rick Ross, Erykah Badu and Bun B. But an unexpected surprise was former child pop star JoJo.<\/p>\n

Just a little JoJo recap- for those of you not in the loop- since being out of the pop game has kept a low profile, not by her choice. JoJo has been caught in legal battles with her record label, keeping her from putting out new music since 2006. What brought JoJo back into musical relevancy was her cover of Drake\u2019s \u2018Marvin\u2019s Room\u2019 which gathered a huge internet success and even a nod from Drake himself. Still amongst legal trouble, JoJo chose to record completely new material and release her 2012 mixtape \u2018Agape.\u2019 [Which is a life changing mixtape and I URGE you to go download it IMMEDIATELY!]<\/p>\n

ANYWAY, back to the point of this article, JoJo had delivered a fantastic performance in Austin at The Fader Fort, rekindling old loves and sparking new ones, performing her old classics and covering\u00a0Phil Collins\u2019 \u201cTake Me Home\u201d and Anita Baker\u2019s \u201cCaught in the Rapture\u201d\u00a0which are featured on her\u00a0latest EP, covering love songs, #LoveJo.<\/p>\n

With JoJo free from her legal battles, a new contract with Atlantic Records, and pipes to kill, what the young songstress has for us next will definitely not disappoint.<\/p>\n
