{"id":30217,"date":"2014-04-30T13:30:37","date_gmt":"2014-04-30T18:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/?p=30217"},"modified":"2014-04-27T15:00:03","modified_gmt":"2014-04-27T20:00:03","slug":"for-the-record-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/2014\/04\/30\/for-the-record-8\/","title":{"rendered":"For the Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Hello one last time<\/em><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This is Kyle Stringer again from your favorite vinyl program \u2013 \u201cFor the Record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This week, my blog is more of a recap and a goodbye.\u00a0 I have now spent two years at KJHK, first as a \u201crotation\u201d DJ, and then as a \u201cspecial program\u201d DJ.\u00a0 It has been a fantastic experience, and I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing my taste in music with the wonderful people of Lawrence, KS.\u00a0 It is an experience I will never forget, as this will be my last semester on KJHK.\u00a0 Thank you to everyone who has put up with my mindless babblings on air, hearing \u201cdead-air\u201d as I fiddle with the turntables, and listening to The Flaming Lips every week.<\/p>\n<p>It has been a great run, but I must take this moment to say one last thing: support local music.\u00a0 Support local art.\u00a0 Support this beautiful town and everything that it provides.\u00a0 Lawrence is a special place because of the culture that inhabits it.\u00a0 That culture can\u2019t survive unless you support it \u2013 unless we all support it.\u00a0 As many of you probably know, the state of Kansas is not typically viewed as progressively minded in the ways of music and art.\u00a0 It is up to all of us to keep these things alive the best we can, and to stand up for what we believe in \u2013 to fight when we need to fight and love when we need to love.<\/p>\n<p>See you all out in the world somewhere.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Written by Kyle Stringer.
