Their catchy and accessible tuneful indie pop with a touch of angst and grit shows that they know how to write a tune. Their EP Tarot Classics and first full length Astro Coast made some waves. Their 2013 release Pythons had a few remarkable moments but fell a bit short in some fans books including my own. 1000 Palms shows Surfer Blood getting back to their DIY roots. The single \u201cI Can\u2019t Explain\u201d starts out a little slow and sad but quickly moves into signature Surfer Blood with jangly chorus and big melodies. \u201cFeast \u2013 Famine\u201d is upbeat and chill. \u201cDorian\u201d has a pleasant beat and lovely melodies, it\u2019s catchy no doubt about it. All and all Surfer Blood delivers a sunny and authentic album with angst and surf rock. It\u2019s not mind blowing but it\u2019s nothing short of enjoyable especially in the summer!
