The first topic of conversation dealt with the screening of the documentary, &#8220;Called to Walls,&#8221; which took place on November 5th. The second portion of the show\u00a0focused on one KU student&#8217;s thoughts on the town hall forum that took place on Wednesday, November 11, in regards to racial issues on the university&#8217;s campus.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Called-to-Walls-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-39876 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Called-to-Walls-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Called to Walls\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Called-to-Walls-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Called-to-Walls-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Called-to-Walls-2-360x240.jpg 360w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Called-to-Walls-2.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>In the first segment of the show, the co-directors of the documentary, Amber Hansen and Nicholas Ward, spoke about their experiences making the film. &#8220;Called to Walls&#8221; paints the narrative of local artists who embark upon a project to create\u00a0murals in the towns of six different states, four of which they highlight in\u00a0the documentary. The duo included their perspectives as both directors of the film as well as artists who participated in the creation of the murals.<\/p>\n<p>The second segment of the show featured part of the panel discussion that took placed after the screening of the documentary. The panel included Hansen and Ward along with Dave Loewenstein, lead muralist, and Kyle McKenzie, an assistant muralist.\u00a0Rachel Vaughn, a visiting assistant professor within the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies department of\u00a0KU, moderated the event.<\/p>\n<p>The final segment of the show comprised of\u00a0another clip from the interview with Hansen and Ward, in which they compared the mural project to the\u00a0Ninth Street Corridor\u00a0Project that is currently taking place in Lawrence.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Abdoulie Njai spoke about his thoughts on the town hall meeting.
