However, seeds made up only a small part of the\u00a0marvels\u00a0present at the\u00a0Seventh Annual Kaw Valley Seed Fair. Vendors from all over Lawrence set up booths to share their knowledge and home-grown goods including the likes of\u00a0bread, honey, eggs and jam. Various agriculture-centered groups also made appearances\u00a0to further promote gardening awareness.<a href=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-41636\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-41636 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair1-300x192.jpg\" alt=\"Seed Fair1\" width=\"300\" height=\"192\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair1-300x192.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair1-768x491.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair1-1024x655.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair1-100x65.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Upon walking through the front doors, attendees encountered\u00a0tables filled with seeds for a variety of fruits, vegetables and plants free for their taking.\u00a0Many people brought envelopes or small baggies to help compartmentalize the plethora of seeds available.\u00a0After walking past these initial booths, attendees could wander past\u00a0a variety of booths filled with things to buy and interesting people to meet. At these stations,\u00a0one could find an array\u00a0of jams, jellies, eggs, baked goods\u00a0and more.\u00a0Of course, nearly every merchant had\u00a0even more seeds available for purchase.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-41637\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-41637 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair-2-300x189.jpg\" alt=\"Seed Fair 2\" width=\"300\" height=\"189\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair-2-300x189.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair-2-768x485.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair-2-1024x647.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Although many people had the intent of buying and selling merchandise, the promotion of awareness and information about the seed industry served as the focal point of the event. Everyone from attendees to event organizers seemed excited to share their knowledge and experience with anyone willing to listen. Various groups held tutorials about a wide range of topics concerning the best seed care and garden practices. To add even more fun, the organizers handed out a plethora of raffle prizes throughout the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Both attendees and booth owners eagerly shared their experiences and reasons for attending.\u00a0Kyle, from Juniper Hill Farms, spoke about his involvement\u00a0with the Seed Fair. This marks the second year for the organization&#8217;s presence at the event.\u00a0Kyle mentioned\u00a0that he most enjoys\u00a0spreading the knowledge <a href=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair-5.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-41638\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-41638 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair-5-300x207.jpg\" alt=\"Seed Fair 5\" width=\"300\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair-5-300x207.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair-5-768x531.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Seed-Fair-5-1024x708.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>about gardening and the best, most eco-friendly seed implementations. Richard, a veteran of the Seed Fair,\u00a0focused less on the seeds and more on his\u00a0honey and eggs. He clearly expressed his enthusiasm for the event through the bee costume that he wore.<\/p>\n<p>Madison and Brandon, two event-goers, related their excitement about attending this year&#8217;s fair. They have\u00a0frequented\u00a0the event in the past\u00a0and seemed glad\u00a0to attend this year. They talked about their ability to network with other gardeners and to learn from the more experienced participants.<\/p>\n<p>If you missed out on the seed extravaganza this year, fear not.
