Morgan Cormack:\u00a0<\/strong>So what made you decide to come to KU?
\nStephen Goodrick: <\/strong>It’s kind of a long story. But, long story short,\u00a0I\u00a0wanted to study Petroleum Engineering and KU had a program. I decided to not continue studying that when the oil prices dropped dramatically. I also kind of found a passion here at KJHK in time, so I simultaneously changed my major.<\/p>\n

MC: <\/strong>That’s very cool.\u00a0<\/strong>What got you involved with KJHK? Did someone in particular influence you or did you kind of find it on your own?\u00a0
\n<\/strong>SG:\u00a0<\/strong>During new student orientation I was kind of walking around by myself, and I walked past the station like, “wait, there’s a radio station here? This is awesome.” Growing up and watching Saturday morning TV I always watched this show called “Deal” and they had a college radio station. I thought that was so cool.<\/p>\n

MC:\u00a0<\/strong>Here’s a more fun question. What was the first album you ever owned or received?
\nSG:\u00a0<\/strong>My sister bought me my first album for my 8th birthday, and it was “Nimrod”\u00a0<\/em>by Green Day.
\nMC:\u00a0<\/strong>So you were big into Green Day back in the day?
\nSG:\u00a0<\/strong> Huge. My siblings hooked me on Green Day.
\nMC:\u00a0<\/strong>I can relate to that. My first album was “American Idiot.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

MC:\u00a0<\/strong>While we’re talking about music, is there a song that describes who you are the most? Any you can relate to?
\nSG: <\/strong>“The Adventure” By Angels & Airwaves.
\nMC:\u00a0<\/strong>Hey okay, that’s a good one! Why that song\u00a0in particular?
\nSG:\u00a0<\/strong>I just think it’s a really open-ended song, much like my life. I don’t know, I like the space-y feel of it.<\/p>\n

MC:\u00a0<\/strong>That’s a good answer. One more\u00a0question: is there anything that people wouldn’t know about you right away when meeting you, but you think is interesting?
\nSG:\u00a0<\/strong>I lived in Seville, Spain for 3 months!
\nMC:\u00a0<\/strong>Whoa, what? When was that?
\nSG:\u00a0<\/strong>April to early July\u00a0of 2013 before I came to KU. I was trying to, you know, get a different look on life and I wanted to live there permanently until I decided to come back. To sound more responsible (laughs)<\/em> I also went to get certified to teach English to adults. \u00a0I got certified but I eventually decided to come back.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
