{"id":52134,"date":"2016-11-02T02:54:44","date_gmt":"2016-11-02T07:54:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/?p=52134"},"modified":"2016-11-02T11:06:53","modified_gmt":"2016-11-02T16:06:53","slug":"frank-mason-just-misses-triple-double-in-win-versus-washburn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/2016\/11\/02\/frank-mason-just-misses-triple-double-in-win-versus-washburn\/","title":{"rendered":"Mason just misses triple-double in win versus Washburn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kansas basketball has returned, and enthusiastic fans packed Allen Fieldhouse to watch the Jayhawks open the season with a 92-74 exhibition win over the Washburn Ichabods on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Senior guard Frank Mason finished with a near triple-double recording 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Mason was the team leader in all three categories.<\/p>\n<p>After a slow start, the Jayhawks rallied to close out the first half with 50 points. The \u2018Hawks went on to cruise in the second half. KU shot 45% from the 3-point line, and junior guard Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk led the Jayhawks from behind the arc, going 4-6 and finishing with 16 points.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman sensation Josh Jackson recorded 14 points while shooting 6-12 from the field. Jackson played just 20 minutes, and he was clearly amped up to play his first live game in a KU uniform, as he went scoreless in the first half.<\/p>\n<p>Both teams struggled overall at the charity stripe. KU finished 18-34 for 52%. Washburn somehow managed to shoot worse than that.
