The longest home winning streak in the entire nation is over.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iowa State Cyclones won a 92-89 overtime nail-biter against the Kansas Jayhawks, handing them their first home-Big 12 loss in over four years, ending a 51 game winning streak.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cyclones (14-8, 6-4 in Big 12), led by the trio of senior guards Monte Morris, Deonte Burton and Nazareth Mitrou-Long, nailed 18 three-pointers, including two in the extra period to seal the victory. <\/span><\/p>\n

Iowa State scored the first five points of overtime while Kansas (20-3, 8-2) missed their first four attempts. Junior guard Devonte\u2019 Graham was able to reduce the lead to one on a late three-pointer. After a pair of Morris free-throws, junior guard Svi Mykhailiuk missed short on\u00a0an extremely long distance three at the buzzer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Burton led the Cyclones with 29 points and hit seven three-pointers. Morris scored 25 points on 9-for-16 shooting with three treys and seven assists. Mitrou-Long added 22 with six three-pointers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Senior guard Frank Mason led all scorers with a career-high 32 points. Mason finished 9-for-11 and didn\u2019t miss a single field goal until his attempted game-winner at the end of regulation. He also added six rebounds and five assists.<\/span><\/p>\n

Freshman guard Josh Jackson finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds, his third double-double in the last four games. Mykhailiuk added 17 points, scoring 13 in the first half. Senior forward Landen Lucas finished with a career-high 18 rebounds and six points.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Jayhawks dominated the first half. KU shot 70 percent from the field and out rebounded the Cyclones, 19-3. Despite starting 1-for-5 from three, the Jayhawks made 4 of their next 5 as they stretched the lead to 52-38 at half.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sophomore guard Lagerald Vick chipped in six points during an 11-2 run to get the Jayhawks a 40-27 advantage with 4:00 remaining. <\/span><\/p>\n

Mason took over from there, scoring seven points in the last 3:32 and picked up his fifth assist by getting Lucas open for a monster jam in the final seconds of the first half.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both teams traded baskets in the early going, tying and trading leads eight times on the way to a 15-15 game midway through the first half. Mason went on a run then as well, scoring five straight points in under 20 seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite trailing by 15 points at one point, the Cyclones roared back in the second half. The Jayhawks led 73-69 with 7:33 remaining in the game, but Iowa State hit three-straight three-pointers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mason went on his last scoring run, accounting\u00a0for KU’s last six points in regulation to extend the game to an extra period.<\/span><\/p>\n

Player of the Game:<\/b> Frank Mason<\/span><\/p>\n

Frank Mason has led the team in scoring in 16 of KU’s 23 games this season, and six of the last nine. Somehow, he reached his career-high in this game without taking a single ill-advised shot. It\u2019s one thing to average nearly 20 points per game in Big 12 play, it\u2019s another to do it this efficiently. It\u2019s too bad it was in a losing effort.<\/span><\/p>\n

Play of the Game: <\/b>Donovan Jackson<\/span><\/p>\n

The junior guard found Svi sleeping on defense during the most important play of the game. Up just one point with 28 seconds to go in overtime, Jackson slithered into the corner and knocked down the dagger three to defeat the Jayhawks in Allen Fieldhouse.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stat of the game:<\/b> 18 three-pointers by Iowa State<\/span><\/p>\n

It seems obvious that Iowa State\u2019s 18 threes are the key to the game, so here is a couple of stats that makes the Cyclones victory all the more impressive. The Jayhawks shot 50 percent, had a 45-25 rebound advantage, and still lost the game. Iowa State\u2019s success from deep and 21 turnovers from the Jayhawks gifted the Cyclones the victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Jayhawks face the Kansas State Wildcats in Manhattan at 8 p.m. on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n
