The album consists mainly of long tracks that play with melodies till exhaustion by amazing performers, no doubt. However, the long tracks don’t make it an ideal or memorable listen. With fairly smooth tones and relaxed interpretations, only skilled or intense listeners will find their pathway through the narrow and guided precision that is this album. The usual construction of instrumentation misses one important part, a large bass presence. With the album mainly focusing on upper register, the lack of range give the ear its fair share of running lines and melodies. Impressive, yes. Long, yes. Fun, that’s for someone else to say.

Recommended If You Like: Nels Cline Singers, Esperanza Spalding, Miles Davis
Recommended Tracks: Any
Do Not Play: None
Written by TJ Duncan on 02/21/2017

A jazz album in its own right, David Weiss’s project is a long cup of coffee and a nice summer’s day sit down album.

[183,4,3235
6816,641,6818,6817
post-55880","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-jazz-rotation","category-music","category-music-reviews","tag-david-weiss-and-point-of-departure","tag-jazz","tag-smooth-jazz","tag-wake-up-call
["GET
