And just as busy as everyone is with school and life, so is the station in charting and adding new music to our rotation! Below, you&#8217;ll find our top most recent adds, and the albums that have been getting the most airtime!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Top 5 Adds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Caroline-Rose-LONER-album-cover.jpg?fit=300%2C300\" width=\"300\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. \u201cLoner\u201d by Caroline Rose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Caroline Rose established herself with a distinct alt-country sound in her 2014 album &#8220;<em>I Will Not Be Afraid&#8221;<\/em>. Despite the first track of her new album, &#8220;<em>LONER&#8221;<\/em>, being ironically titled \u201cMore of the Same,\u201d Rose\u2019s sound has gone in a completely different direction since her debut. &#8220;<em>LONER&#8221;<\/em> is a dynamic, eccentric collection of songs that unabashedly push limits and break rules&#8230; [LONER] will hook you with its upbeat instrumentation, and its powerful lyrics will keep you ensnared for even longer.&#8221; -Jaya Chakka, Music Staff<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/static.stereogum.com\/uploads\/2018\/02\/in-a-poem-unlimited-1518728539-640x640.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for u.s. girls in a poem unlimited\" width=\"300\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. &#8220;A Poem Unlimited&#8221; by U.S. Girls<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Politically charged, thought provoking and with plenty of musical depth, &#8220;<em>I<\/em><em>n a Poem Unlimited&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0signifies a milestone for songwriter Meg Remy. While her most accessible album yet it is also her most enjoyable and interesting work, it is the rare political pop record that looks toward the future and offers us something new.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.pitchfork.com\/photos\/5a5e535373f0ef18803bdd02\/1:1\/w_320\/Blood.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for blood rhye\" width=\"300\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. \u201cBlood\u201d by Rhye<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A lot has changed since Rhye released their debut album, &#8220;<em>Woman&#8221;<\/em>, in 2013&#8230;\u00a0the smoothly sensual, atmospheric nature of Rhye\u2019s music is a constant. Instrumentally, the sound has matured, likely due to its expanded membership. Husky drum riffs, muted basslines, and what sounds like a miniature orchestra sprawl beneath Milosh\u2019s velvety voice&#8230;\u00a0The rich detail wraps around the listener like a warm bath, and you\u2019ll be hard-pressed not to find yourself sinking in.&#8221; &#8211; Jaya Chakka, Music Staff<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/f4.bcbits.com\/img\/a3471928093_5.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for car seat headrest twin fantasy\" width=\"300\" height=\"317\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. &#8220;Twin Fantasy&#8221; by Car Seat Headrest<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Will Toledo\u2019s re-recorded version of the album originally released in 2011 speaks to his greatest gifts as a songwriter: wit, cynicism, and an overarching thematic presence that captures teenaged desire and heartache.\u00a0A real intriguing piece of lo-fi bedroom indie. The songwriting is quality and the production, while rough, works well in favor when concerning the emotions of depression and failed relationships placed within the record.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.pitchfork.com\/photos\/59f914dae54f3167d9a0eb55\/master\/pass\/608_ought_roominsidetheworld_1400.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for ought room inside the world\" width=\"300\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. &#8220;Room Inside the World&#8221; by Ought<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ought&#8217;s third album offers a new refined sound and does the band&#8217;s new direction much justice, with that reeling energy still present in each track. &#8220;<em>Room Inside the World&#8221;<\/em> is a trove of art-rock and post-punk. Always leaving the listener quite unsure of its potential, it cements Ought\u2019s reputation as an exciting band perfectly capable of evolution and reinvention. I&#8217;m probably not the only person to say you OUGHT to listen to this.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Top 5 Charts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.pitchfork.com\/photos\/5a37fc8a52be490a71127ad6\/1:1\/w_320\/the%20official%20body.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for Shopping The Official Body\" width=\"300\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. \u201cThe Official Body\u201d by Shopping<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Adding a sprinkling of Brexit, Trump, a principally imploding world, and you\u2019ve got yourself &#8220;<em>The Official Body&#8221;<\/em>\u2014 Shopping\u2019s second album.\u00a0Recorded over 10 days, <em>&#8220;The Official Body&#8221;<\/em> stays true to the minimal dance-punk ethos of Shopping\u2019s previous releases, with the thematic seriousness of the album contrasting with the band\u2019s &#8216;fun&#8217; evolving sound.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.pitchfork.com\/photos\/5a2ebddf4166de2d9c71910b\/1:1\/w_600\/I%20can%20feel%20you%20creep%20into%20my%20private%20life.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for tune-yards - i can feel you creep into my private life\" width=\"300\" height=\"340\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. \u201cI can feel you creep into my private life\u201d by Tune-Yards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I can feel you creep into my private life&#8221;<\/em> is a natural addition to the Tune-Yards catalog, songs so singular that practically every track seems like an evolution in the Tune-Yards sound. Merrill Garbus has made an album musically and lyrically ambitious, being most outwardly appealing but most inwardly unsettling,\u00a0covering themes of identity politics, race, and feminism in today&#8217;s world.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com\/images\/I\/91Ob7YXLbPL._SL1500_.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for mimicking birds layers of us\" width=\"300\" height=\"341\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. \u201cLayers of Us\u201d by Mimicking Birds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mimicking Birds\u00a0have a swooning sound that covers all sorts of genres, ranging from anywhere between stripped down serenades to subtle synth soundscapes. Full of shimmering cosmic rock, the Portland prog-folk-rock quintet\u00a0puts you in a dream state with every song on <em>&#8220;Layers of Us&#8221;,<\/em> and makes the mind think and care about every subject matter it brings up. Think less Fleet Foxes and Modest Mouse, and more Midlake and The War on Drugs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-65908 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/de-lux.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. \u201cMore Disco Songs About Love\u201d by De Lux<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The post-disco duo of De Lux has released their third album\u00a0<em>More Disco Songs About Love<\/em>, and though some may be at odds with just how disco it sounds, one cannot deny the indie-pop influences which serve to create more distinguished hooks. Listeners may not find the latest release by De Lux to be the most innovative, though it is sure as hell to get them to dance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-65896 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/little-dark-age.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/little-dark-age.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/little-dark-age-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/little-dark-age-125x125.jpg 125w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u201cLittle Dark Age\u201d by MGMT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Little<em> Dark Age<\/em> gives you the accessibility of <em>Oracular Spectacular<\/em>, the polish of <em>Congratulations<\/em>, and the experimental charm of<em> MGMT<\/em>&#8230;<em>Little Dark Age<\/em>\u2019s balance of radio-friendly hits and experimental tracks serve as a perfect balance for those wanting to jump into the band\u2019s discography. If you\u2019re coming to this album after knowing one of their three hits, you\u2019ll find most of these tracks comfortable and highly enjoyable.
