Welcome back to a fresh new semester of Vintage Vinyl on KJHK! I have missed you all greatly.

As some of you know, I did a pretty good number of free form shifts over winter and, as promised, Vintage Vinyl is back. Same time, same place, same day: Wednesday nights, 10 to midnight. And I’m so excited to be back! I’ve been trying to figure out how to top myself this time around, to be bigger and better than before.

First off, some cool news: I am an ACTUAL dejay. Like, one that gets paid to do work. Isn’t that great? Over the winter I shared a gig with DJ Cyrus D (KJHK alum and funk/soul/disco dejay extraordinaire) and on January 13, 2012, I had my first solo dejay gig ever at the Replay Lounge. It was incredibly fun and it’s something I hope to do many more times. As such, I have been working to legitimize myself in the world of professional dejays. Necessary steps have included a wicked cool dejay name (Modrey Hepburn), a website (!!!) and business cards. For those of you who are curious as to what my new website is all about, you can give it a visit at :

http://djmodreyhepburn.yolasite.com

I’m really proud of this little project, it’s the first time I have ever needed to build a website and I’m hoping it will help me advertise my available services. That being said, if you ever have a high school reunion, wedding, retro-themed event, dance party, etc. that desperately needs a vinyl dejay with a badass collection of vintage records…. did I mention I have a new website?

Anyhow, that’s enough of that. Oh! Except one more thing: I have another gig coming up on Friday, January 27 here in Lawrence, KS. This is final fridays and I’m dejaying for the grand opening of a hip new store downtown called Star Struck Clothing. It specializes in retro and vintage clothing of the pin-up/rockabilly persuasion, and then some.

Ok, that’s really it on the business front.

……………….

For my first show back on the air for 2012, I’ve decided to do a Greatest Hits of sorts. I’m sure there will be plenty of new listeners this time around, and I would like everyone to get a feel for all that I play. So, you can expect a lot of jumping around for this one. I’ll be playing hits (and a couple obscure ones) anywhere from the 1950s to 1980s and across all genres, such as doo-wop, rockabilly, soul, funk, disco, british invasion, garage rock, psychedelic, and however you would categorize music of the ‘80s synthetic.

As always I am so, so happy to be back. This semester is going to rock and I’m going to do my best to keep the airwaves full of your favorite vintage sounds. Thanks again everyone, and welcome back!

by emily scholle
tune in to Vintage Vinyl every

[4
395,23
post-6706","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-music","tag-emily-scholle","tag-vintage-vinyl
["GET
