“Never a band to be easily classified into a definitive genre, the group even further distorts these boundaries in Nearer My God. 2.) Black Belt Eagle Scout – Mother of\u00a0 My Children<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

Mother of My Children\u00a0<\/em>is the debut album from Saddle Creek’s Black Belt Eagle Scout, a project created by Katherine Paul (aka KP). \u201cHaving this identity\u2014radical indigenous queer feminist\u2014keeps me going. My music and my identity come from the same foundation of being a Native woman.” says Paul. The album is eight powerful songs that explore\u00a0experiences of loss, frustration, and dreams.<\/p>\n

3.) Hypoluxo –\u00a0Running on a Fence<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Hypoluxo, out of Brooklyn, NY, are making waves with their second full length album,\u00a0Running on a Fence.\u00a0<\/em>The album is a seamless collection of shoegaze, dream pop, and post-punk. Front-man Samuel Cogen’s voice is described as\u00a0 “a little mellow with a baritone croon somewhere between Joy Division\u2019s Ian Curtis and The National\u2019s Matt Berninger.” Definitely recommended for fans of both of those bands.\u00a0\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

4.) Spiritualized –\u00a0And Nothing Hurt<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Spiritualized is back with their eighth LP, following up the 2012 release of\u00a0Sweet Heart, Sweet Light<\/em>. Spiritualized is known for transcendent and mesmerizing sounds, and this album is no different.\u00a0And Nothing Hurt<\/em> has a cinematic quality meticulously crafted by\u00a0Jason Pierce, aka J. Spaceman.<\/p>\n

5.) Shortly –\u00a0Richmond<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Richmond\u00a0<\/em>is the debut EP from Detroit artist Alex Maniak. The haunting , yet hopeful 5 tracks are full of powerful harmonies and intense story telling. While Shortly is a solo project, Maniak has plenty of people to bounce ideas of off, including Joe Reinhart of Hop Along, who helped her create songs \u201cthe way they sounded in my head.\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
