\"\"In this beautifully deplorable debut record, On Hold<\/em>, Fenne Lily is able to find hope after the pain of a serious heartbreak. It may be shocking to discover that at just 20 years old she has enough content to write a 37 minute album, but Fenne Lily says that some songs were written before she even experienced heartbreak. The album also highlights alienation from her family and friends and a tribute to the man who helped her overcome it all, her brother.<\/p>\n

This independent release came out on April 6th, 2018, but seven of the ten tracks had been previously released as singles. \u201cTop to Toe\u201d was released when Fenne Lily was just 15 years old. The reflective lyrics on that track talk about how it \u201cisn’t what it used to be\u201d and how \u201cit’s just not right.\u201d The raw honesty is magnetic and pulled thousands of Spotify streams, leading a self-taught musician to touring with Lucy Dacus and Andy Shauf.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a While\u201d starts off with the lyrics \u201cleaving it all unsaid,\u201d because she has grown to \u201cneed this pain.\u201d The song is hauntingly beautiful. Fenne Lily understands that it is time for a change \u201cbut it hurts to feel this much\u201d and searches for familiar support in such a vulnerable time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Hand You Deal\u201d begins in an ethereal realm and transcends into a place of power. The exposed acoustics are perfectly compelling. While she sings \u201cI don\u2019t try to wake\/There\u2019s nothing in my day that I want to replay,\u201d you will surely want to replay<\/em> this album.
