Boy Harsher \u2013 Careful<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Careful<\/em>, The newest full length from Brooklyn DIY electronic duo Boy Harsher initially flew under our radar when it was released back in February, but we’ve since fallen in love with it. Few albums mange to achieve both the dark, haunting atmosphere Careful <\/em>carries while maintaining the ability to dance all the way from the opening track to the closer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 2.) Big Thief \u2013 U.F.O.F.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n U.F.O.F<\/em>.’s simplicity shouldn’t be mistaken for lack of depth or inspiration, as the 3rd album from the folk quartet is some of the band’s strongest, and most chillingly beautiful work yet. Adrienne Lenker’s songwriting seems to never stay stagnant, as the characters that comprise U.F.O.F<\/em>. are much more fleeting and ethereal than the ones we’ve encountered in previous albums. Big Thief certainly know how to pull a listener in and give them something impossible to expect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 3.) Field Medic \u2013 Fade Into The Dawn<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [From previous week] The line \u201cI\u2019m tired of playing all my old hits, but my new songs are too depressing.\u201d echoes on the first track of Field Medic\u2019s newest album Fade Into The Dawn. <\/em>These new songs that comprise this project indeed fall on the more somber side of Kevin Patrick Sullivan\u2019s range, but come together to produce the artist\u2019s most focused, serene, and captivating release to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4.) Grace Ives \u2013 2nd<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Grace Ives knows exactly what she wants to say in her music, and she wastes no time doing so. While these tracks are short, they explore and entertain such a wide range of feelings that each track seems to have a hidden weight that begs for another listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 5.) Dehd – Water<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Summer in Lawrence is right around the corner, and with the change in seasons comes a need for tunes to cool off and chill out. Dehd’s Water <\/em>is a perfect soundtrack to beat the heat, but it also serves as an important emotional outlet for the band themselves.
