Started in 2011 as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleofthemapfest.com\/info\">joint venture<\/a> between KC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/inkkc.com\/\">Ink magazine<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.therecordmachine.co\/\">The Record Machine<\/a>, MOTM has since then grown to include 60+ diverse acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/motm-2019-newpng.png?fit=1024%2C1024&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-70911\" width=\"293\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/motm-2019-newpng.png 1200w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/motm-2019-newpng-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/motm-2019-newpng-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/motm-2019-newpng-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/motm-2019-newpng-1024x1024.png 1024w, https:\/\/kjhk.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/motm-2019-newpng-125x125.png 125w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 293px) 100vw, 293px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&#8217;s headliners feature some iconic female voices of the current lo-fi and indie scene &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2019\/08\/19\/clairo-and-the-fuzzy-diy-sounds-of-bedroom-pop\">Clairo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2018\/06\/14\/619961679\/snail-mail-delivers-sturdy-guitar-riffs-and-soaring-vocals-on-lush\">Snail Mail<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en_us\/article\/wj3bkx\/meet-beabadoobee-the-gen-z-songwriter-crafting-simple-affecting-earworms\">Beadadoobee<\/a> &#8212; setting a dreamy, contemplative mood, perfect for the end of summer 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, the festival has always featured internationally recognized headliners such as Spoon, Vince Staples, OK Go, Iron and Wine, but is still ultimately the gathering place for up-and-coming local favorites &#8212; many of which have come through KJHK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some of our favorite artists to look out for at this year&#8217;s Middle of The Map Fest:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Fey<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lincoln, Nebraska-based soul band features a new age-rock sound, which blends beautifully with influences of r&amp;b, hip hop and pop music.
