\"\"Sophie Allison, or Soccer Mommy, could have flopped coming off of such a successful and cohesive debut album, Clean<\/em>, yet her sophomore album, titled color theory, <\/em>might be her best work.<\/p>\n

color theory<\/em> gushes the emotional turmoil that was only sprinkled into Clean<\/em>. The album\u2019s third track, \u201croyal screw up,\u201d starts with a whisper and a sigh from Allison as she says, \u201cOkay, let\u2019s do it,\u201d like she has to hype herself up to get through the album.<\/p>\n

While the content of the album is deep and heavy, the tone of most of the songs is uplifting and bouncy. \u201ccircle the drain\u201d has bubble noises in the chorus, and the guitar riff in \u201ccrawling in my skin\u201d almost distracts from the Allison\u2019s chronicle about sleep paralysis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The record is only 10 songs yet goes on a journey through growing up, learning how to behave, and fearing that it could all end too soon.
