Soccer Mommy\u2019s sophomore album somehow manages to be both brighter and darker than her debut,\u00a0Clean<\/em>.\u00a0color theory<\/em>\u00a0is an exploration in growth, encapsulating the young artist\u2019s rise to indie fame and the struggles that have arisen as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.) Squirrel Flower \u2013\u00a0I Was Born Swimming<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ella O\u2019Connor Williams\u2019s debut album is a sweeping collection of songs that encompass the best parts of female-fronted indie rock. The album\u2019s title refers to the fact that the artist was born still inside a caul sac membrane: literally \u201cswimming.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.) Tame Impala \u2013\u00a0The Slow Rush<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tame Impala\u2019s groundbreaking\u00a0Currents<\/em>\u00a0was a hard album to follow up; this may be, in part, why\u00a0The Slow Rush<\/em>\u00a0arrived a full five years later. Though it is debatable whether this album lives up to its predecessor,\u00a0The Slow Rush<\/em>\u00a0is a dynamic album and a strong return for Tame Impala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.) Babehoven \u2013\u00a0Demonstrating Visible Difference of Height [EP]<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Babehoven\u00a0is fronted by Philadelphia via Los Angeles (via Portland) songwriter\u00a0Maya Bon. She uses her songwriting as a way to process the struggles of daily existence, of familial trauma, of the processes of letting go. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.) \u00c1sgeir – Bury the Moon<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
