Tell us about your show?
My show is Latin Lab, it’s Wednesdays from 10 to midnight — absolute party slot, might I add. I feature some of my favorite Latin, mainly Spanish language songs. I really like it because it’s a good mixture of some more traditional Latin music, and I’m also putting my own spin on it by adding some Reggaeton into the mix, which I really enjoy listening to. I feel lucky that I got this slot because it’s a fun show and it’s fun music… It’s really just the music that I listen to that I think Lawrence might have fun listening to.”
What’s your favorite part about hosting it?
It’s a different style, it’s a different sort of vibe or mood than what usually plays on KJHK. I really like that it’s very lively, and I can’t help but feel good when I listen to the sets.”
How did you get your DJ name?
My DJ name is DJ Juera, which means white girl, and it’s pretty self explanatory. My mom studied in Mexico for a while and that’s what people called her — ‘ella es la juera’ — and so I figured that works.
If you were a soup, what soup would you be and why?
I feel like it’s a little too on brand if I say chicken tortilla soup, but I’m kind of feeling that right now. You cannot go wrong with chicken noodle soup, it’s absolutely the staple, it soothes the soul and makes you feel better from any sort of ailment. However, chicken tortilla soup adds a little spice and it’s excellent when you add in the tortillas because then it’s a little crunchy, you put in the cheddar — it’s an elevated soup form.
