Kat King’s career started as a solo project in a small town in Kansas. She produced one 13-song album and three EP’s, her earliest work coming out when she was only 14. Now based in Kansas City, Kat King has graduated into a 5-piece indie-pop rock group who’ve released a five-song EP and multiple singles together.
I had the pleasure of shooting their opening set for Yoke Lore at Warehouse on Broadway, a relatively new venue located in the heart of Westport. I was also able to grab a few pre-show portraits of the group ahead of their set, they were incredibly kind and down to earth. One guitarist told me about his time as a KJHK staff member a few years ago, detailing a few obscure but hilarious stories about the station during the portrait session.
