On Oct. 3, local Americana band The Roseline celebrated the release of their newest album, “86 Gumption,” at the Replay Lounge. Following the album’s Aug. 7 release, frontman Colin Halliburton embarked on a solo tour of the U.K. and Sweden, performing acoustic versions of their songs in cities including Manchester, London, High Wycombe, Stockholm, and Falkenberg. Reunited once more, the band celebrated the release on Oct. 2nd at Hillsider’s in Kansas City, Kansas, before returning to Lawrence.
The Lawrence show opened with Gracie Hughes and Her Band, featuring singer-songwriter and guitarist Gracie Hughes, KJHK’s 2024-2025 programming director, alongside current KJHK live events director, Micah-Ray Reynolds-Laura. With two members of KJHK’s own community on stage, their set was a beautiful introduction to an evening celebrating the strength and breadth of Lawrence’s local music scene, from young and blossoming musicians to a band whose work has carried from Lawrence to audiences abroad.

By the time The Roseline took the stage, the Replay Lounge had settled into the familiar intimacy of a Lawrence show. Friends, fellow musicians, and longtime listeners gathered to celebrate the new sounds of “86 Gumption,” while Colin’s humorous banter between songs kept the atmosphere warm and familiar. The night felt as much like a homecoming as an album release.
From Lawrence to the U.K. and back again, “86 Gumption” has already carried the spirit of our local scene far beyond its hometown. With artists like Gracie Hughes and The Roseline continuing to shape that scene in their own ways, the evening was a fitting celebration of the music and community that make Lawrence such a special place.
