Upbeat folk music with witty lyrics is sure to charm
The Mountain Goats are one of the original architects of the lo-fi folk revival from the 90s but for the past decade they’ve been going down a more ornate route. Their newest album, Transcendental Youth, is no exception with tracks like “Amy” and “Cry for Judas” that feature great instrumentation which, combined the high production value, leave a memorable impression on the listener. Also, John Darinelle’s witty lyrics are back in full force and they are always a highlight of any Mountain Goats album. I would recommend this album for fans of folk music and great lyrics.
