Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds-Push the Sky Away

The morbid elder statesman is back with a subdued new album

Nick Cave is back with the Bad Seeds after spending the past few years exclusively with Grinderman. Not that there’s anything wrong with Grinderman, it’s just nice to hear him with the Bad Seeds again. Their newest album, Push the Sky Away, is a lot more subdued than any of the previous Bad Seeds albums and it works. Tracks like the lead single “We No Who U R” and the epic stream of consciousness of “Higgs Boson Blues” are every bit as good as any of the more crazy Bad Seeds tracks from albums past. Nick Cave proves with this album that earns a place with other great elder statesmen like “Tom Waits” as still being able to hang with the best.
