This album is a re-release of their first album to celebrate its 10 year anniversary (that’s 2005 for those who don’t feel like thinking). Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is a true indie rock band. Part of why they are famous today is for how they became famous– the internet (finally, it was used for something other than cat pictures). Simply by word of mouth and internet bloggers (word of fingers?) the band sold out of this album and had to make another batch (that’s how CDs are made right? Like cookies in batches). They were a novel sound at the time, and some say this LP is even more novel now, now that indie music has become a bit of a mainstream genre. You’ll probably recognize “The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth” but there are other gems on here as well. When you listen to the whole album you really get the feel that this was made for music, not for money. All in all this is a solid album from a time when “indie” actually meant “indie.”
