Meredith Walrafen, student and activist, drops by KJHK tomorrow.
Last week we rang in the Leap Day with past KJHK DJ and all around stud, Jon Sabillon! Along with being a DJ and KJHK staff member, Jon also founded KZOO at KU and worked with SUA and brought artists such as Asher Roth, Aziz Anzari, BoB and much more. He also started events such as Dancing with the Stars at KU. His mark can be seen across the calendar year at KU and across the campus! But in our interview we did not dwell on the past! Now Jon, graduated in 2010, is doing big things in the world. We discussed his work with Def Jam records and future production plans. He spent the fall traveling as a live events DJ for Def Jam at clubs in cities such as South Beach, Las Vegas, Orlando, Hot-lanta and much more. He had the opportunity to work with artists such as Kanye West and many others. But in the “real world” Jon has not lost his sense of humor and fun nature. He recalled, one night, spending almost $1300 on Go-Carts in Atlanta, racing until he beat all his coworkers.
We also discussed his current production products…which he first publicly announced on our show! (Woo!) On March 22nd Jon will release some of his first material for his new album (full release date TBA). Check out his previous work at http://jonsabillon.bandcamp.com/album/rainbow-mash.
This week we will interview Meredith Walrafen, student and activist in a variety of areas including water preservation.
