Danceable music with a melancholic touch
Beneath Stars’s underlying upbeat and danceable qualities lies a melancholic edge that tempers even their most light hearted songs. On their seventh album, The North, Stars continue to refine this unique clash of darker lyrics on top of grooving electronic beats while still managing to keep it fresh. A few of the track highlights include “Do You Want to Die Together” which features a 50s style waltz beat and vocals that are reminiscent of Roy Orbison and Diana Ross while still retaining that modern edge. Another highlight would be “Progress” with its light airy vocals over a soft synth groove.
