Plow The Fields Midwest Music Foundation

Check out Quinton Cheney’s blog about his interview with Fally Afani and Nicholas St. James, on Plow the Fields.

I can give the photos alt text! I feel a sudden rush of pressure to be witty...

Fally Afani from I Heart Local Music swung by the KJHK studio to promote a concert she organized to help fund the trip down to Austin for Midwest Music Foundation‘s annual Midcoast Takeover. The Midcoast Takeover is a week-long smorgasbord of Lawrence/KC area music hosted by Shangri-La (our Replay-away-from-home). This interview was a doubleheader. Tagging along with her was that gregarious, guitar-strumming, goldenrod of a man known as Nicholas St. James, who recounted tales of merriment from Folk Alliance International and waxed philosophical about vinyl, punny band names and performing with holograms.

Once Nick scrambled out the door, Fally and I’s conversation turned to live music war stories–from getting trampled in the photo pit to enduring a cloud of  pepper spray to Mitch Jones descending from the heavens in order to party with Andrew WK. We also talk about Fally’s punk phase, and she makes her case for Lawrence as The Best Music Town In The Nation™. Enjoy!
