On March 1, Paige Lectenburg, of Tulsa Oklahoma, came onto “Across the Pond” to talk with Kalie McAlexander about being in Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
Paige grew up with a strong influence in Native culture, and in this episode, she talks about the various intersections of Native and non-Native life. She discusses about what it means to “look Native,” her favorite parts of Native tradition and food, and the journey her tribe took from Wisconsin to Oklahoma. She also gives insight into the difficult history of Native boarding schools.
Paige attends Haskell Indian Nations University and the University of Kansas.
